It's not just a permit.
It's a brand.
T·1660 started as a taxi permit. Four generations later, it's a brand built on one family's dedication to this island.
It started with Clifton Robinson, my wife's great grandfather. When he stopped driving, he passed the permit to his son Maxwell. Then to Eddie Robinson — my wife's father — who drove under that number for years until age caught up with him.
When Eddie hung up his keys, he passed the permit to his eldest child: Erika — my wife. Erika doesn't drive taxi. But I do. So in a way, T·1660 passed through love, from the Robinson family into ours.
I carry that permit today. And one day, it will pass to our son.
